Loki-Season 1: Premise and Review

 Loki-Season 1: Premise and Review

Loki-Season 1 is a Marvel series that is part of the MCU. This series is Marvel's third installment to come to Disney+ after WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. A total of six episodes, Loki began airing from June 9 to July 14, 2021, with the revelation that the series will continue into its Season 2.

It opens with a moment after the events in Avengers: Endgame, when Loki who has been captured by the Avenger team managed to escape using the Tesseract. However, it did not last long, Loki who fled to Mongolia was arrested by a special law enforcement unit, minutemen from the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA).

Taken to TVA headquarters, Loki then confronts TVA agent Mobius (Owen Wilson), who then gives him all the information that had confused the God of Mischief, one of which is that he is a variant, a figure known as a timeline disruptor. Seemingly backed by unlimited power and resources, TVA through Mobius seeks to recruit Loki to willingly assist their investigation in their mission of apprehending other variants that have tainted the sacred timeline and destabilized it over time.

Things get interesting when it's revealed that another anarchist variant is Sylvie (Sophie De Martino), a female Loki from a parallel timeline. Sylvie had all of Loki's characteristics and was arguably superior because she had already traveled a lot through the timeline with the aim of destroying all of the TVA minutemen. This second meeting of Loki turns out to change their fate, revealing the hidden truth about the power behind TVA and the nature of the Marvel multiverse.

One thing that is so obvious is that Loki- Season 1 has a different taste compared to the two Marvel series that aired on Disney+. The tone of this series is thicker like a television series than WandaVision, but still can't be separated from the problem of accelerating the story. After the first two episodes, which were quite solid, both in introducing the time keepers and the TVA organization, to the character Sylvie. However, after that the pace of the series began to slow down.

The third and fourth episodes are a bit slow and less biting. But the last two episodes have managed to restore the uniqueness and wild entertainment that this series needs while providing a cliffhanger and bridge for the next season, as well as pieces of the MCU in the future.

One of the strengths of the Loki – Season 1 series is its ability to switch genres at will. It doesn't end with the massive CG battles that all MCU shows require, but rather with a confrontation between complex minds. As the series continues (something the post-credits stinger confirmed in the last episode), there are endless combinations of characters and stories they can try out.

What brings the Loki – Season 1 series to life is Tom Hiddleston's energy and fun performance. Having played Loki since his first appearance in Thor, Hiddleston has created a character that feels both original and fitting to the original cast, while making the role his own.

Overall, Loki -Season 1 is a good series to set the continuation of the future of the MCU while being a series that has its own slick moments (Classic Loki, Miss Minutes, Frog Thor, and He Who Remains , are a series of highlights that leave a lasting impression. It is here). Although, not all episodes of the series consistently provide the same pleasure, but for the size of the series which has a total of only six episodes and the presentation of the story is quite satisfying.

Hiddleston's slick performance, who is increasingly fluent in playing this character, seems to add to MCU fans to continue to see what the actor will continue with this character ... especially since he now knows how to escape his fate of death (as has been shown in Avenger: Infinity War ).

Compared to the Netflix Marvel series of a few years ago, this Disney+ series operates on a hitherto unseen scale. That's in part because the series directly ties into the wider cinematic universe. WandaVision brought to the door the next Doctor Strange movie, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier opened the door for a new Captain America, and Loki- Season 1 was no exception. Given that one of the next big films will be Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, it's no wonder the series is a way to introduce audiences to the MCU's parallel universe.
